Qualifying Finals and Womens Round 1

With the completion of this weekend’s games we have now officially reached the end of our regular season for 2016. This, however, does not mean that football is over as we head into our finals series for the Senior and Junior competitions as well as launch our Womens competition this weekend.

The finals for the Seniors have been set for a couple of weeks. The Semi-Final will be played between the 2nd placed Centurions and the 3rd placed Spears. The winner of the Semi-Final will earn the right to compete in Capital Bowl XXIV against 2016’s Minor Premiers, the Firebirds.

The Juniors will see the 2nd placed UC Firebirds take on the 3rd placed Centurions and that winner will take on the Tornadoes in Canberra Bowl XXIII.

Saturday also marks the start of our Womens competition with the Northern Angels and the Southern Demons battling it out over a 6 week regular season, culminating in Territory Bowl II in December.

Game times this weekend are:
WOMEN 11:00am – Northern Angels vs Southern Demons
JUNIORS 1:30pm – UC Firebirds vs Centurions
SENIORS 4:30pm – Centurions vs Central Spears

Round 9 Ladder Update

Coming into the final round of the Seniors regular season we have our ladder positions set. After this week, the Firebirds(7-0) will get a week off and head straight to Capital Bowl XXIV as the 2016 Minor Premiers. After their win last Saturday, the Centurions(5-2) have secured second place. The Spears(4-4) take out third place and have a bye week before taking on the Centurions in the Qualifying Final. The Gladiators(2-5) just missed out on the finals, taking out fourth position and the Wildcats(0-7) round out our ladder in 5th place.

In the Junior competition, we know our finals teams but the second and third places will come down to this weekend’s results. The Tornadoes(6-1-1) take out the Minor Premiership and will advance straight to Canberra Bowl XXIII. The Firebirds(5-3) are currently sitting in second ahead of the Centurions(4-3-1) in third with the Wildcats(0-8) in fourth. The Firebirds can secure second place with a win this week but if they lose the Centurions can take their spot if they are able to get the W on Saturday.

Although our finals teams are decided for both competitions, there is still some great football to be had. Come down to Greenway oval on Saturday to check it out.
